Its has been a regular practice for me to think about how a film maker conceived certain scenes in the film after watching his film if at all there is any rational thought process involved in the film making.. Since film making in the director's point of view is narrating a story and distinction between two directors narrating the same story arises based upon how each of them will perceive a certain incident/situation/concept which in-turn depends on the respective director's sensibilities which sprout from his mental structure built based on the kind of situations witnessed by him and through other sources of input to his brain like books, films etc which eventually will be seen while watching the final product..
From my observations an example for the above written description is Puri Jagannadh who always has his Protagonist backed with guts and a rebellious attitude which comes into play when he is placed in extraordinary situations. As per my observations, the source responsible for this kind of characterization in Puri's films is Ram Gopal Varma who is best known to all for his rebellious attitude.
But when i tried to think about how Bala, the director of Vaadu-Veedu made certain scenes this film i was left clueless because i don't have any idea about the characters that were portrayed in the said film.
This man Bala has a world which is unfathomably different and so are his films..The Characters of Waltair, Dhandaal saami and Highness are so touching that i can't forget thinking of them..I've been hit hard by a particular scene in such a way that i was left agonizing after watching the film and went on scolding the villain for the ruthless acts done by him..I think this is exactly the aim of the director while making a film i.e, to make the audience feel what he had felt..
One thing that is still running in my mind is how a person can be so cruel and ruthless and by going a step further onto how Bala created such a character makes me to think about the basis/source of the cruelty depicted in the form of that villain and whether Bala witnessed any human being of that sensibility in his life..
Like other films i did not come out of the theater after watching the film simply discussing whether it is good/bad because i was still under the influence of some scenes in the film.
Vaadu-Veedu is a film that cannot be enjoyed but should be seen for its sheer characterizations which we don't get to see in other films and of course in real life too(tell me if you see any)..
Hence, Vaadu-Veedu: A Nightmare i liked, for its uniqueness..
